Between Stages

I'm between stages. I'm 18 on the inside, still the restless adolescent of the late 60's and early 70's, yet on the outside, I've gained a little weight, my hair's a little gray, and I've lived several lifetimes. Still, I'm between stages. I'm not middle-age, but I'm not a senior citizen either. It feels as if I'm between two worlds, , susspended between two lives. The life I lived then, and the life I live now. These worlds, I live in, the ones I journey in, are the world of the young, and the world of the old. I haven't changed. I still have the same old dreams, the same old hangups, the same old beliefs, the samed old ideas. I still want the same things I did when I was 20. Yes, I am between stages. It's not summer, but it's not fall either. It's a strange feeling. The summers are still as restless as they were then. The winters are still as endless as they were then. Could it be we never age on the inside, and the human spirit never grows old. Yes, I believe that, and even when I reach the elderly stage, I'll still be the same. I will still be as idealistic, still be as passionate about causes I believe in, and I'll wonder if other folks my age feel the same way. In fact, I wonder if folks my age feel this way too.

An Aunt of mine well into her 90's never claimed to be a day over 16

I personally am the opisite. I am 20 but feel 40. I am to mature my friends say, to serious, and would rather do laundry and stay home then go out partying.

I agree with you jessica, same here. I d rather study or work on a Friday or Saturday night then hang out on the mall, drink, or party. I got better things to do than waste time on things that are not my priorities.

Maybe this all goes to show, we are never satisfied where we are.

When I was a kid, I could hardly wait to grow up.

Now that I've grown up, I'd like to be a kid again.

God must really get a kick out of us silly humans.
